Thank you Erin! I believe this case is the exception. It lives in a building that has been abandoned for some 35 years. It is dark in the building even during the day. Furthermore, a man comes by to feed the stray cats at a certain time such that this little guy has gotten accustomed to coming out to get his or her share of the food. Shortly after eating, the raccoon returned inside the building to go to sleep. So I think he knows when to come for food and has gotten used to living with cats and in some ways acts like them.
