Alexander Four

Alexander Four
This is a 1928 portrait of four of the Alexander brothers (at the time of this portrait their brother Isaac had passed) from left to right, Frederick Douglas, Louis Franklin, Zechariah Jr., and the youngest Kelly Miller. The Alexander brothers were the sons of Louise and Zechariah, Sr., Few families in Charlotte achieved the prominence of the Alexander family. They were successful businessmen, but they are perhaps best known for promoting civil rights and other issues crucial to the survival of the black community.
