Even if yellow... tried to go inside one once, couldn't stay, I am very claustrophobic ! But nice to see it from outside, even if urgent need of any paint.

I think they're planning to restore it a little before it gets its final spot in the museum. I doubt they're going to paint it yellow though... ;-)

I'm not claustrophobic, not yet, anyway!! If anything, then I'd hate to be among large crowds of people.

Irgendwie finde ich U-Boote ja faszinierend. Aber es wäre mir lieber, wenn sie nur zu Forschungszwecken und nicht als Waffen eingesetzt würden. HF(riedlichen) FF!

Dieses hier ist ganz friedlich, da es sich nach seiner restaurierung nur noch als exponat im technik-museum aufhalten wird :-)

Das sieht selbst von außen klaustrophobisch aus, gelbe Farbe würde es sicher freundlicher erscheinen lassen;-) Ich war mal als Kind in Laboe in dem U-Boot, das hat mir gereicht....

Ach, ich habe da kein problem mit klaustrophobie (siehe meine antwort an Isabel weiter oben).
Das u-boot wird ja schon noch ein bissle aufgehübscht bevor es offiziell im technik-museum ausgestellt wird. Gelb angestrichen wird es wohl nicht ;-))

Gelb angestrichen wird es sicher nicht mehr, aber ein bisschen aufpoliert wird es werden, bevor es im technik-museum zum offiziellen exponat wird.

This is fascinating Edna. How often do you get the chance to see a submarine out of the water? But it has little touches of yellow so it may well have been the original 'yellow submarine' :-))
Perhaps they should repaint it and have a copy of the LP sleeve artwork on it!!

Well, after all Ringo had to sing at least once :-) He should have done it more often, perhaps with some voice training more of his singing recordings would have become hits ;-))

We have a nice yellow one at Liverpool! The curse of our sea's in WW2 with this class. I like to see the 60 (120+?) wheel transporter with this. Quite a heavy load no doubt. Well done.

Herrliche Bilder von einer grandiosem und aufwendigen Aktion des Technik Museums.

Ich war etwas später da und das war gar keine schlechte idee, denn als es ankam, war der platz mit leuten überfüllt. Am spätnachmittag waren dann schon weniger leute dort und man konnte gut fotografieren. Immerhin habe ich es geschafft, ein foto von diesem u-boot in seiner vollen länge zu machen, ohne dass mir weitere betrachter oder andere fotografen ins bild gelaufen sind ;-)

Die aktion war ja wirklich mega. Wäre aber auch zu schade gewesen, dieses faszinierende teil zu verschrotten. Seinen endgültigen platz wird es allerdings nicht in Speyer, sondern im Technik-Museum in Sinsheim finden, aber die beiden gehören ja eh zusammen.

Sogar bei der DB. Da hatte der zug letztes jahr über eine stunde verspätung und ich habe die hälfte des fahrpreises erstattet bekommen :-)) Aber meine verspätung hier beim u-boot war ja absichtlich und wohl durchdacht ;-)

Ja, das lohnt sich...es soll irgendwann anfang nächsten jahres dort ausgestellt werden, sofern der restaurierungszeitplan eingehalten wird.

many years ago, I had a trip on the Mersey in what looked like a yellow submarine.

Well I was going to mention the yellow submarine but that would be labouring the point.

So I'll stick with my other choice; they should call the submariners sardiniers, as they're all squashed into a tin can. As a bit of a claustrophobic, I would rather remain on the outside of that tin can especially as those fences are see through!!

You're right, you've got to be more individualistic as so many people before you had mentioned the yellow submarine already (including myself) ;-))

Right now this not so yellow submarine is still being spiffed up a bit, I guess when it's ready for visitors it might very well be possible to see the inside, too. I wouldn't mind as I'm not claustrophobic, especially not in grounded submarines ;-)

Bei ihrer Reise übern Rhein habe ich sie in Koblenz knapp verpasst

Das ist schade! :-( Es war ja an einigen orten entlang des Rheins zu sehen. Speyer war am nächsten für mich, deshalb also diese entscheidung. Und da war es ja auch schon angelandet und man konnte es in ruhe (also länger) betrachten als nur beim vorbeifahren. Obwohl es ja nicht mit hochgeschwindigkeit auf dem Rhein entlanggefahren ist ;-))

That's quite a heavy load to be transported! I counted 120 wheels in the trailer, plus 12 or 14 in the MAN. It will be interesting to visit it. I have a black submarine of the 1960's near where I live, but it's not yet ready for visits. The only one I visited was much smaller: "Vesikko" - the only German submarine of World War II that survived it. It can be visited in Suomenlinna (an archipelago in Helsinki Bay). Belated HFF, Edna!

Yes, you're right. And luckily it all worked out without any accidents! So when will your sub be ready for visits? This one here was just a preliminary visit right after its arrival. It will be fixed up and then tranported to another museum nearby (most likely sometime next year) where it's going to be shown as a permanent exhibit.
