Le château de Chillon, réputé pour sa beauté, est l’un des châteaux médiévaux les mieux conservés d’Europe. La forteresse construite au Moyen Âge sur les bords du lac Léman, non loin de Montreux, dans l’actuel canton de Vaud, fut la résidence des puissants comtes de Savoie du XIIe au XVIe siècle, jusqu’à l’arrivée des Bernois en 1536. Puis, aux XVIIIe et XIXe siècles, le château inspira de nombreux écrivains et poètes.
Chillon Castle, renowned for its beauty, is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe. Built in the Middle Ages on the shores of Lake Geneva, not far from Montreux in what is now the canton of Vaud, the fortress was the residence of the powerful Counts of Savoy from the 12th to the 16th century, until the arrival of the Bernese in 1536. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the castle inspired many writers and poets.
