When I was a social work student, I had clients who lived on this pier. They had run the cafe and lived above it until one lost the use of his legs. They were living in the steamer booking office. I tried to get them rehoused, but they had to return to Wales, as they hadn't been in WSM long enough. Once I got stuck there when the sea was a bit choppy at high tide. I had to stay there for a couple of extra hours.
