“The history of “Barril Tuna Fishing Station” or “Three Brothers” (from 1841 to 1966)

Every year from April to September, used to live in this small village, about 80 fishermen and their families.

In small and humble homes, there was neither electricity nor water supply. Love and fraternity was shared from sunrise to sunset,



The migration of tuna (and its variable quantity) towards the Mediterranean Sea, was called “tuna front” and back to the Atlantic Ocean, was called “tuna back”, determined each year, an uncertain outcome of this arduous labor.

Currently you can appreciate a cemetery of anchors that were used in the old “Barril Tuna Fishing Station”, the small houses used by the fishermen now converted into shops, restaurants and beach facilities
