Das Afrikaanse-Wort für die Giraffe. Offensichtlich konnten die ersten Siedler das Tier nicht recht zuordnen und hielten es für eine Kreuzung aus Kamel und Pferd ;) Daher auch der Name Kameldornbaum im südlichen Afrika, da die Kameelperds gern an ihnen fressen.
