Crane Castle, an iron age defensive site. This has almost all succumbed to coastal erosion except for this bulwark which is on the cliff edge now but was built as the inner, landward, rampart.

La Sierra de La Cabrera in late spring

Taken an hour or so before. The clouds were gathering. Sierra de La Cabrera

A former tin mining area, now a million miles from any semblance of industrialisation. Taken from the top of Bosigran main cliff - a well-known rock-climbing area.

By the side of La Torre de Los Lujanes, dated mid to late 15th century. Possibly earlier as there is still some Moorish influence there. Shot taken in a very narrow alleyway. Camera to one side of head as I squeezed right back against the opposite wall. I couldn't see what I was taking. Pure guesswork and the first take was the one!

A pleasant scramble up to this point and good views to Cape Cornwall in the north and to Land's End in the south.

This year (2017) produced no poppies at all in these fields. Most years there is a good show; this from 2015.

Granite again. La Sierra de La Cabrera

El Cancho Largo (The Guardian of the Mountains), La Sierra de La Cabrera. Mondalindo is the hulking massif in the background and Penelara (the highest peak in the Sierra de Guadarrama) is in the far distance to the left. In all honesty I didn't see the climbers until I uploaded the photo later that night! They must have been very quiet for climbers, especially Spanish climbers! Godrevy Lighthouse, the inspiration for Virgina Woolf's novel 'To The Lighthouse'. Although she set her novel in Scotland she admitted that the idea for it was formed by the view of Godrevy across St Ives Bay from her house.

Photo taken in August 2014. I previously walked this stretch of coast path in the summer of 2010 and the path did indeed go straight across from this point!
