May is the best time to walk in La Sierra de La Cabrera, when the spring flowers are in profusion.

Hedge is the Cornish word for field wall. Best enlarged.

View from Cancho Gordo, to the Bustarviejo Valley and (from L to R) on the horizon, the rocky extravaganza of La Pedriza, Bola del Mondo and Peñalara, the highest peak in the Sierra de Guadarrama. The mountain goat shots posted a few weeks ago were taken just round the corner to the right but I couldn't quite get them in shot from these rocks.

The granite mountain of La Sierra de La Cabrera. Viewed from the upper slopes of El Cancho Gordo, along the ridge to El Pico de La Miel at the far end. A little cropping and that was it. No other editing needed in this excellent December light!

Porthcadjack. Samphire and Asparagus Islands prominent. Cornwall coast, about halfway between Portreath and Basset Cove, for those of you who miss geo tagging! For Pam. Unedited. I have lost the hard drive of my old computer and although the external hard drive seems to be OK and it is where my photos are, I can't associate it with my new laptop. Google has dumped Picasa, so my editing tool has gone. I had it on my old computer but that is history. How does Picmonkey work? Until I am able to associate my external hard drive with my new laptop, I will have a limited supply of uploads, and no new photos for a while.

Cornish granite cliffs - for Pam.

St Agnes Head as seen from Tubby's Head. I used to be able to get from the end of each headland (starting and finishing at sea-level but having to climb to the cliff top for obvious reasons!) to the other in under 20 minutes, without running. It might take me 25 minutes now! But, going back further in time to when I still smoked, it would then take me 45 minutes! However, now that I stop all the time to take photos, it would take me 45 minutes again! What goes around, comes around!

Lizard Point, Cornwall. For Marie-france.

10 Aug 2011 39 58 595
Marie-france reminded me that the geology of Ouessant (Ushant in English), an island off the far west coast of Brittany, is the same as that of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. The geology of this area is very mixed. This shot is of Lizard Point. It may or may not have the same geology as Ouessant. Marie-france, does it look like this? If not, I'll try and get more photos next time I go there (possibly next month) from a different area geologically but still on The Lizard!. Although forgive me if I don't go to Coverack, they'll still be cleaning up after the flood! Best wishes, Andy
