Freight passing through. I'm all alone at the Amtrak station - fun! The BNSF and Union Pacific stations are a little further south from where I'm standing.

From the Japanese-American and POW internment camp of WWII, Tulelake, California. POWs were Italian & German. This barracks held two or three families. It and the guard tower were moved to the fairgrounds museum to preserve them. There were two separate camps, one near Tulelake and another at Newell, a few miles southeast. These are men's shoes in the window of a small store on Via Nazionalle, called Mondo Albion, that was closed. The shoes seemed to be handmade and they were in a complete jumble. I couldn't see inside the store, but there were posters and photos that had a theme of revelry in costume. I could not make any sense of the entire scene, but the shoes were fabulous. (Of course! This is Italy!)
