Rambler, 1958 (PiP for update)

Rambler, 1958 (PiP for update)
The AMC Rambler was treated as a joke by young adult and teen drivers in the 1960s. It was an old folks' car and no young person would be caught dead in one! The little space-car-like Metropolitan, on the other hand, was considered so weird it was cool. My boyfriend - later my husband - had one as his first car. SEE PiP for an update shot taken 8/27.

I quite like the shape of the rambler...........plus rust and blue make a super combination!

The same used to be said of Volvo Estate cars.............and it's principally the reason why I've owned a few over the years and currently drive one.............I don't want to be "cool", whatever that is..!!

It seems they were never a big hit compared with the giants Chevy and Ford. Thanks!

I'd like a Metropolitan instead of a Rambler. Wheee! Thank you, Marj!

You're exactly right - as usual! I went back and found some info chalked onto the back fender. See PiP.

Thanks again, Dodge!

I was a little off.
I can see the emblem on right side of the trunk lid when I expand the PIP.
It looks like it is a "Super", like the second link, and not a "Custom" like the first link.

I like the little Metropolitan's too, but they only fit two people (or 50 clowns). ; )

Oh, it's not important! That's right, perfect when you don't want to double-date! I've seen a few of them restored over the years, but can't say I've ever seen a Rambler dolled up...not that I make the rounds of car shows...
