A couple in their 80s got out of this beautiful, eggplant colored car. It was hard to accurately capture the color and this shot comes closest. At the Curly Redwood Lodge, Crescent City, California.

I used to love these chopped bombs when I was a kid and I still love 'em. And I suspect the chopping of so many of these cars was an impoirtant influence on 50s and 60s car design. I have no evidence, of course, but that's what I suspect.

You have a good point, John. I also think of the general exuberance of the post-war era. Then came Mexican immigrants and their low-rider cars - another fascinating phenomenon.
