Where is it, Diane ?
Looks like a ghost town ... like I could see some in the U.S.A.

No, just a business that has closed. The town has a few hundred people who still live there and have jobs on the big farms in the area. They buy what they need at a larger town a few miles north. Yes, there are a few ghost towns, but those are in Nevada and other desert areas. There are a lot of "ghost ranches" in the west. The American west is like Australia - settlers in the 19th and early 20th century would struggle to survive and had to leave when they couldn't support themselves in the middle of nowhere. (Both of my parents grew up on homesteads.)

... a lost world ... future for all U.S.A. ???

Ha! The economic picture is pretty good right now, but the emotional landscape is definitely a lost world. Nobody knows how much The Yam will mess up the economy, international relations, etc. Demonstrations against him continue, especially after he appointed someone for his "chief strategist" who supports White Power groups and other right-wing extremists. What a friggin' nightmare.

Such a shame that these small businesses have to close..............it's the same in UK, mainly through lack of local support. The over-abundance of huge out of town supermarkets and the increasing popularity of online shopping doesn't help. I suppose we're all guilty and we never realise what great stores we have locally until they're gone..!!

Rant over! Great reportage Diane..........a lovely set of images.

I feel the same way, Keith, and eventually the ONLY place to shop is Walmart or Tesco. That, in turn, increases online shopping, because you can't get decent shoes, etc., at a superstore. It will never again be like the "mom and pop store" days.

OK, my rant over, too! Thank you again!
