I am not interested in cars. Not at all. However you cannot be indifferent facing some designs... The Ford Mustang is one of the most beautiful self-propelled objects ever designed in the industrial era. I think there are other examples such the Supermarine Sptifire, the futuristic steam-machine of the NY Central and, coming in our photograph world, it's impossible to not remember the beautiful Leica cameras in all of their declinations and my first two cameras, the Nikon FM2 and the Nikon F3 hp. I'm not someone who says that "before" it was better. I just think that when parameters were different designers had more freedom to create objects with less conditions dues to sustainability, economics limits, rationalisations of the production, programmed obsolescence, exploitation of workers, delocalization in China and so on.

You make excellent points, Andrea! I was not at all interested in cars until I moved to a place with lots of old cars and trucks. Yes, more freedom to waste materials, fuel and man-hours used designing them. ;-)
