A poem that my grandfather taught me:

Gefroren hat es heuer
Noch gar kein festes Eis.
Das Büblein steht am Weiher
Und spricht so zu sich leis:
Ich will es einmal wagen,
Das Eis, es muß doch tragen,
Wer weiß?
