Ahoy there.

Just at the side of the Göta Kanal in Gothenburg, Sweden lies this memorial to the age of sail, albeit on land. In an case, making for an attractive photo in this contre-jour misty setting. Enjoy

The White Rainbow! (Fog Bow)

Dec 2012: We were astounded at this spot on the Göta Kanal here in Gothenburg when we saw this. If my wife had not seen it too, I might have thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. This is actually termed a 'fog-bow' too. - "In many cases when the droplets are very small, fog bows appear white, and are therefore sometimes called white rainbows" This has been posted as an accompaniment to the adjacent 'Fog Bow over Dovestones'- PiP

Briksdalsbreen Glacier remembered

A look at Briksdalsbreen Glacier and its lake in Norway, taken in Aug 2005. We travelled to this from Olden, on Nordfjord and was astounded by the beauty of it. See PiP Unfortunately, we see it here before its impending death! - I was astonished to see yesterday, that this view has almost disappeared in the 14 years since we were here, due presumably to global warming. I did in fact manage to get underneath the ice here too. Only the very top is now visible as ice but the modern visitor have a few splendid waterfalls from the melting top of this in Summer. See the decline of the glacier here . Another from my Panoramio collection. PIP. Enjoy full size.

Gothenburg Christmas 2012

Part of out trip to the cold north in Dec 2012. This beautiful river in the centre of Gothenburg, in Sweden is, as you can see, frozen over. In the background is a thick mist that was to soon engulf me here. Enjoy the rest of this Christmas. Herb
