Deluge of Daffodils

Deluge of Daffodils
A heavy downpour, even as the sun still shines puts a rather artistic backdrop on these spring flowers here in Scotland. The tone of the tree trunks and woods behind completes this natural capture. Of course I was safety sheltering behind a big glass window.

Enjoy full size.

It is indeed beautifully artistic, Herb, and the light is gorgeous. The streaks of the falling rain work wonderfully with the background (it took me a minute to realize there was also the trunk of a beech tree "hiding" among the streaking rain).
And you didn't even have to get wet to catch this! :)))

Hi Annalia. Very happy that you have enjoyed this one. One could be forgiven to think that I had used photo editing trickery to get this but no, the background silver birch and beech trees really did give that impression of a canvas backdrop. The downpour was quite intense and I took this at a rather slow 100th of a sec blurring the falling drops whilst keeping the flowers nice and sharp. As you say, without getting wet too.

Hi Toz, sometimes we have to just make the best out of inclement weather. This rain was followed by the most beautiful rainbows that lasted almost 45mins. Great that you enjoyed it

As a lover of art, I saw from the start the beauty in this downpour. Catching it like this was almost more luck than design. It only lasted a few seconds before turning the traditional grey. I think you may be having weather like this (minus the sun) at the moment too :)

It must have been a very clean glass window Herb :-)

This has a very painterly look to it.............the light in the foreground and on the daffodils is gorgeous, and it also makes the torrential rain stand out perfectly against the darker background. The flowers are amazingly sharp too given the circumstances.

You've done a super job here. I really like it!

Hi Keith. Glad you enjoyed this one. Reading though your comment here I can well understand your reasoning and thought process. One could be easily fooled into thinking that I had used photo editing trickery perhaps to get this, but no, the background silver birch and beech trees really did give that impression of a canvas backdrop. The downpour was quite intense and I took this at a rather slow 100th of a sec blurring the falling drops whilst keeping the flowers nice and sharp in the bright spotlight of sun at the far end of the garden. The windows were beginning to reflect some of the internal lighting as show by those strange grey verticals. -or just a trick of the light. I just manged a total of three photos here, all at different focal lengths but this was the best. - All whist keeping quite dry in the cottage lounge.

Don't you believe in making sacrifices for your art Herb?
But you obviously don't need to because this capture IS art.

Very cleverly done Herb. Its great to see something different that works so well. I love the light on the grass and the wall of water that the downpour produces. Very good indeed.
