A postcard from Port Patrick
Situated on the Rhins of Galloway this port was a very important outlet for fishing, giving access to Northern Ireland. Earlier its quay was protected by the baron of Dunskey Castle. When being invaded, the fishermen and their families probably scrambled up the cliffs to Dunskey for protection. (The old castle situated just behind the top rocky cliffs seen here in the background.) Now a delightful place to stroll and also to spend some time, especially as I am stood in the grounds of the grand 'Port Patrick Hotel' here.

Glad you like this John. Thanks for the mention of my detail here. I try to keep my pictures as sharp as can be, when it matters as well as posting a reasonable size shot so that folk like you can look around it and see what I saw.

Nick and John, cheers for this visit. Yes a little paradise for the likes of us camera toting folk. A quaint harbour, an old castle and great coastal walks to another fine light-house, all with wonderful sunsets too. Can't be bad. Unfortunately I was only a day here.

Pubs by the score -well at least half a dozen my friend. Even a good espresso can be got. Not to mention fine fish-n-chips or a lobster main dish. Have I left anything else out? :)
