Truck and Willy Willy

Truck and Willy Willy
In Australia A Willy Willy is what the Americans call a twister(tornado). As I was changing from 150-600 to 24-120 I could see this move down the road to the truck. I finally got a shot as it passed the truck, yes it was a very hot day.

Hey Steve, yep over here we would call that a twister, as that is what it does.:) there is, however, another name for this, but it doesn't come to me at the moment....

Best wishes, Sarah

Sarah I think the word you are looking for is Tornado, they dont last a long time here and not usually as destructive as you mid west Twisters.

Top shot - literally here. I have seen a few shots of such works before and always thought it would be good to go and see such a place then catch some photos too. You have a lead on me Steve. That tipper, which I know are gigantic looks like a Dinky toy here. Well done.

Keep safe. Herb

ps great nick-names here: Twisters and Willy Willy

Herb the term Willy Willy comes from the aboriginals, twister is an American term for a tornado.

I have added two extra shot to show just how "Small" they really are even by our standards, yes dinky toy till you stand next to one.

I have been through a few myself but as we have less clouds less force its just a very strong winds. I have seen first hand the effect of the winds under shade cloth and the circular motion on the ground below. this is my first ever shot of one most times no camera or not enough time as the move quite fast. many thanks for stopping by.
