Found on the trail, the old railroad track, a piece of Petoskey stone.
A totally unexpected find today. Petoskey stone occurs in the Great Lakes region in Michigan.

Everything in northern Michigan was dragged down to southern Michigan by the glaciers. If these Petoskey stones are polished they have a very beautiful pattern.

I have seen some polished. Gift shops up north sometimes have a few pieces for sale.
