Cardinal Flowers. From 75 feet away I was able to get this shot.

Cardinal Flowers. From 75 feet away I was able to get this shot.
These flowers are standing in a bog surrounded by other wildflowers, tall grass and cattails and it was impossible for me to get close enough for photos. Luckily my camera could zoom in from where I was standing.

Danke, Marie-claire. Ja, es sind wunderschoene Wildblumen, aber es gibt sie sehr selten, darum war ich so erstaunt, ganz in unserer Naehe diese Stelle Sumpf zu finden, denn diese Blumen bluehen nur, wenn der Boden immer feucht ist.

Eine Sumpfwiese in einem Park in unserer Naehe. Ich war sehr ueberrascht, so eine grosse Anzahl dieser herrlichen Lobilien zu entdecken, denn es sind empfindliche Blumen, die nur in einem ganz besonderen Naturboden wachsen und eine konstante Bodenfeuchtigkeit brauchen.

This camera choice has continued to spread. Valentina Zvyagina (Irina's daughter) purchased one a few years ago, too. And Lydie Stuelsatz-Derbez got the successor SX60 HS. Sometimes, people say "what a great macro" when I had been standing 20 feet or more away from my subject.

Yes, the camera is a good choice for many different subjects. I know of two German friends that bought one because of what I was able to do with mine.
