Thanks very much, Ron.

When I transferred the photos to my computer I couldn't remember which butterfly was on what flowers, but there were two Giants and they kept flying around me many times. When they sat on a flower their wings were vibrating the entire time. I had the camera set at Tv at 500mm, fast enough to stop the movements.

Another beautiful capture.
[Pardon my ignorance, but would you mind explaining what the Tv setting is?]

I'm not sure I can, because it is a setting on my fully automatic Cannon camera. It lets me select the shutter speed.

Thanks for your nice feedback on my photos, micritter. Ronald Losure has the same camera as I do.

Thank you, Doerthe, for your helpful reply. I googled "Canon Tv" and, as you indicated, it is shutter priority mode (on my camera it is "S"). Apparently it stands for "Time value" (a rather odd Canon nomenclature when everybody I think calls it "shutter priority", but now I know... Thanks again.
