I could spend a summer up there and never tire of the spectacle. The lake is one of my favorite Michigan places to be. The bird observatory is my favorite place in that location. If I were single I would sign up in the Spring to count migratory birds. They always need help.

Do you realize that this is the weekend of the "Great Backyard Bird Count"? You don't even need to go to your backyard; your dining room will do.

I had signed up a couple of years ago but didn't get very far with it. I can't spend enough time actually watching. But, today was a fantastic day in the park. A large flock of Cedar Waxwings and Robins were feeding on the crab apples and Ligustrum berries. (I had to cross reference this name and have no idea if it is correct, "Privet"? The German name is Liguster.)
