As symbol it represents a universe and philosophy in itself. Emphasised here by the way it is photographed, isolating it in the light. Isolating it further by titling it “in the corner”. A lost world of calm and order? Can it still light a way for us?

It feels like a lovingly made photograph. Certainly iconic.

I did try to capture some of this spirit, once, in a garden I made. It became overgrown and muddled. It is now almost buried beneath my house rebuilding.

Thanks for the comment. Indeed it was what I intended to convey when I took the photo. I came across the corner, saw the loneliness of the Japanese lamp being relegated by the corner and I thought, well, it certain would make a good story if photographed in such a way as seen above.
