The fountain sculpture of the Bahkauv ( Bachkalb, Badekalb) at the Büchel in Aachen from 1967.
According to a legend, the beast is said to frighten drunken men at night and ask them to carry it on their shoulders so that the men have a hard time going home. If the drunken men begged or prayed, the Bahkauv became heavier. If they cursed or scolded, the burden became lighter. It is said that Pippin the Younger, Charlemagne's father, also fought against the Bahkauv and killed them with a sword one morning at a steaming spring.
