Zombieland & Shaun of the Dead. Both were on the Movie Network this past weekend. Both very similar in many ways. They are zombie movies that are very entertaining and work to be fun instead of scary. They don't take themselves too seriously, and seem oddly more realistic on some levels than other zombie flicks I've seen (although I honestly haven't seen very many).

There's a certain casualness to the situation in both movies, and both have scenes where they play on the "we can trick them by walking like them" idea. Each film has a strong cast that can deliver the dark comedy that was at some times understated, and other times right in your face. I was surprised to find the scenes intended to be serious were even more so in SotD. It seemed to have a wider gap between separating the comedic and intense moments. The general feeling in Zombieland stayed more or less consistent the whole time.

Both enjoyable movies, and although I liked Shaun of the Dead just a little bit more, I'm handing out the same rating to each.
