Sunday June 24th was Dedication Day at Hope United Church Alvinston. With family present, the new stain glass in the choir loft was dedicated in memory of the late Howard Byrans and Don McKellar. Created by Pat Copeland, the stain glass consists of eight panels of depictions from the bible. In addition, the Summer Team was called forward and introduced. June 10, 2012. - Hope Alvinston celebrated its 132nd anniversay on June 10th, with special music and a guest speaker. Mercy, a trio of talented ladies, sang a selection of songs to the delight of those in attendance. The guest speaker was Rev. John Gould, a retired minister from the United Church of Canada. Rev. Church this morning will be at 9:00am St. Andrew's Cairo annual meeting & potluck lunch is January 30th. To assist with the times, we will switch service times on that day only.

Sunday School Skating Party Time is 1pm to 4pm @ Christa Sawyer's parent's pond. Hot dogs and hot chocolate provided. The address is 8755 Churchill Line, east of Nauvoo Road. We will meet at the house at 1:00pm and carpool back to the pond. Bring skates, warm clothing, and snacks if you wish. All are welcome. There is a shack for quick warm-ups. The Board of Stewards are hosting a one day Sydenham River by Canoe Adventure. Looks like the day will be May 17. Starting at Alvinston, we'll canoe for the morning to Smith's Falls, where we'll take a short break for refreshments and visit the home of photographer Larry Towell. Continuing on, we'll travel to Shetland Conservation Park for a late afternoon barbeque. If you would be interesting in joining in the excursion, email me.
