St Martha's Church (also known as St Martha-on-the-Hill) sits isolated on a sandy hill-top. It is the only church in Surrey situated on the Pilgrims Way. It is listed Grade II, rebuilt in 1848-50 out of the ruins of a 12th century church, of which some features remain.

The church sits on the Greensand Ridge a few miles from Guildford and is only accessible on foot (the North Downs Way long distance path goes right past). The path up to the church door is the colour it is because the whole hill-top is completely sandy, just like a beach.
