Edit 1st May: Thanks for all of you who suggested alternative identification for this plant. After some more research I'm even more confused as there are so many confusingly similar plants........so I'll leave the ID as it is for now! Photo taken on the Maer..........a nature reserve near the seafront in Exmouth, Devon.

Situated near the seafront, the Maer Local Nature Reserve is perfect for a quiet walk away from the busy beaches and town. It is home to an abundance of wildlife, including the odd dinosaur apparently.
