The French Alps

17 Aug 2022 5 7 339
I bought some old slides in a Kodak carousel slide tray off eBay and the slides were listed inside the box as "Vacation 1970 - Athens to Congo." This one was taken somewhere in the French Alps. As seen in a comment below and thanks to another member here on Ipernity, this place is called "Aiguille Du Midi," which means "Needle Of The Midday." It's kind of sad that I was able to buy these images because they should have been passed down to relatives. I assume the people who shot these vacation slides are probably dead by now, seeing as how it was 50 years ago. I noticed that the guy seemed to have been a pretty good photographer and the Kodak Kodachrome slides have held up excellently! They were probably Kodachrome 25. I thought they were too good to never be seen by anybody again, so that's why I posted it. K25 1970 102ef

Hotel Continental

This is a slide from an unknown couple's vacation in 1970 which I bought off eBay in a couple Kodak slide carousels. I'm pretty sure this one was taken in Germany. Another Kodak Kodachrome 25 slide that has held up well these 50 years. I thought some of these pictures were pretty interesting and to never be seen again would be a loss to society. Man Sitting With Flowers, 1970

Another slide from an unknown couple's vacation in 1970. I'm pretty sure this one was taken in Germany. I'm also sure that this man took most of the vacation slides, with his wife taking a couple of him. She was pictured the most and her shots of him weren't as good as his shots of her. So, he must have been the photographer in the family. Another Kodak Kodachrome 25 slide that has held up well these 50 years. I thought some of these pictures were pretty interesting and to never be seen again would be a loss to humanity. I did crop this image a little bit to make it more interesting. K25 1970-1 85-2ef

Aiguille Du Midi - "Needle Of The Midday"

I bought some old slides in a Kodak carousel slide tray off eBay and the slides were listed inside the box as "Vacation 1970 - Athens to Congo." I think this is the French Alps because the very next slide after this has a sign with the above-named mountain. It states it has an altitude of 3,842 m./12,602 ft. It's kind of sad that I was able to buy these images because they should have been passed down to relatives. I assume the people who shot these slides during their vacation are probably dead by now, seeing as how it was 50 years ago. Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Another one of the pieces from my late Mother's coffee cup collection. This one is from Playa del Carmen, a popular resort and vacation destination located along the eastern coast of Mexico on the Caribbean. I posted it today in honor of Cinco de Mayo - an important Mexican army victory on May 5th, 1862.

Canadian Vacation

My family travelled to Ontario, Canada in the Summer of 1980 for a vacation. We had a swell time and here is our rig - a 1979 Ford F-150 with a camper shell and an Apache pop-up trailer it pulled behind. Taken with my Minolta XD11 and Kodak Kodacolor 100 film.
