The Cedar Waxwings are visiting our yard this year in Trail, BC. We have not seen them the two years we have lived here until now. This one is getting some shade. The temperature here today was 93F/34C. A heat dome will be sitting over us for a few days.

From our backyard feeder. This Jay will empty the peanut dispenser and hide them all over the yard and parts of the neighborhood. It always takes the last one into the nearby tree and eats it. This one looks like a juvenile or it is molting.

It was time to pick the grapes growing on the pergola in our backyard. We did not want the smell to attract bears.

The summer sun was showing off this iridescent fellow's colours.

Someday I will capture this bird fully in bright light but here we can see the red on its head and the yellow in the tail.

We had a visit from this Northern Flicker today at our feeders. This one is just outside the window as I was inside, looking out.

For the Saturday Self-challenge: Process anything. I let the dramatic art filter on my camera do most of the work this week and then enhanced the drama on Lightroom. Looking out my back door at sunset.

For the Saturday Self-challenge: Use the window as a frame. The decals on the windows are placed on the outside. This spring we had a number of bird strikes on the window and it was injuring the birds. The reflection made them think it was a continuation of the yard and they were flying fast against the window. The decals act as a deterrent because even though we can barely see them, it acts like spotlights to the birds and they veer away. The second is one of the first photos I posted on Ipernity. It was the view from our hotel room in Piana, Corsica. To the left was the ocean.
