Hiding under the lid is one of the two coin-operated stamp dispensers, and some spiders & other muck. [I shut it after I had taken the close-up picture which needed flash] The K4 Telephone Box at Whitley Bay. One of a very tiny group of survivors from what was only a limited production run. Designed in 1927 to combine a normal call box with some Post Office functions, specifically stamp vending and a post box. Grade II listed, and due for renovation since permission was obtained in 2022 [a local community group are seeking funds] as part of a wider scheme. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_telephone_box#K4

The K4 Telephone Box at Whitley Bay. It does look in need of *some* tlc, at the very least, a good wash down - the paint underneath all that muck actually looks OK at first glance. GR wall-mounted post box in Allenheads Square, in the wall of the old bus garage. Still in use, with the next collection due 09:00 on Monday ... [GR stands for George V, so this was placed between 1910 and 1936] {I am informed that this is a rare "Ludlow" wood-carcass box}

Mind the Nettles ! Just a few yards from the Wasdale Head Inn [up from Wast Water]. Victoria R wall post box - built into a "dry" stone wall [although I suspect that there is *some* mortar around the box.

Three wall post-boxes, exhibited in Ramsey. So: VR, GviR, EiiR [Yes it was persisting it down at the time, we were walking from the Lifeboat Station around to a recommended cafe for a late lunch, before going back to Douglas on the MER]

The various Royal Cyphers, as used on post-boxes in the UK, from Queen Victoria [1837] to Charles the Third, with dates ... . not my image : fair use & public education

Pillar post box on Carlisle Station [platform ?]. Cypher is Edward VII with a Tudor Crown [1905 to 1910], although the focus is not as good as it could be.

Red "Pillar Box" in the Market Place at Whitehaven. The cast monogram is George VI who reigned between December 1936 and his death in February 1952. Note Also the cast "Post Office" who dealt with the Royal Mails until the idiotic partial privatisation in 2013, the government sold off the remaining 30% stake in 2015, which ended 499 years of public ownership.

This is somewhere in the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne, probably nearer to the RVI or the University Campus than to Haymarket Metro station. It is VR so 1837 to 1901, with the slightly simplified monogram. [surprised that the white wall hasn't been defaced, although some thing was stuck onto the box, and been partially removed]

Wall mounted post box at "The George", Chollerford. From the VR it dates from pre-1902 ... so is an antique and still in daily use. Some people "walking the wall" [Hadrian's Wall Trail" drop off progress report post-cards in it, in addition to their phones !

There was a little difficulty with displaying the Royal Cypher for Her Majesty The Queen in Scotland, so it was decided that the St Andrew Crown was to be used instead for post boxes and the like. This one is not far from The Hawes Inn, under the Forth Railway Bridge.

Official "Blue Plaques" usually commemorate a famous person's abode. So, someone has a sense of humour, as DM lived under a Post Box "somewhere in London" ... "Danger Mouse" had two incarnations, I prefer the 1981 version. "Good grief ... Penfold, Shuusssh !" as David Jason does the narration. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danger_Mouse_(1981_TV_series)

gpo[18] / IoM[2] - Peel railway station post box

[please look at "all sizes" if you want to read the notice] An out-of-use "GR" post-box on the site of Peel railway station. This box was originally sited sometime during the reign of George V [6 May 1910 – 20 January 1936].
