Description of the procedure for static line jumps, as would have been used during D-day and similar operations.
To the RAF this is the Douglas DC-3 "Dakota" to the USAF it is the C-47 "Skytrain".
Currently carrying the D-day black and white stripes on the wings and just in front of the empennage.

Loadmaster's seat - more accurately, jumpmaster when dropping paratroopers, even with the signal lights and using static lines ... would sometimes push out additional stores on their own parachutes after the jumpers had left.

Internal layout when carrying paratroopers - note the way the seats have space behind them.
Two "sticks" of 14 was the standard capacity for static line drops.
There were several notices saying that the seats were designed for 13stone of paratrooper & kit, so if you weighed more, to sit down gently and perch on the front edge.

Cockpit : Crew of four - Pilot, Co-pilot. The other roles of Flight Engineer, Navigator and Radio Operator might be combined, sometimes Navigator with that of the co-pilot, and the radio operator / flight engineer was often combined in the military.
