Sign of the times with the former Woolworths shop in Berwick-on-Tweed now offering bargains at low price.

Berwick’s second cinema opened for business at the start of February 1928. As its name suggested, The Theatre, at the upper end of Hide Hill, was designed to allow both film and stage performances and it also incorporated a café. A sound system was installed in Summer 1929. The last film was shown here in January 1969. The building was subsequently a nightclub and a bingo hall before being redeveloped to house a combination of a restaurant, a shop, and residential accommodation.
