On a cool morning I was able to approach this rather sluggish male Orange Tip butterfly whilst it was feeding.

The butterflies are making the most of the current warm spell and there were lots of these Small Tortoiseshell out and about whilst I was dog walking this morning, Spring is here with summer not far behind.

This year's Green Hairstreak (Callophrys rubi) seen at Newchurch Common, Cheshire. This year the numbers are good and I saw at least ten individuals on a short stretch of my walk.

I love to see this beautiful butterfly, Green Hairstreak (Callophrys rubi) and this year it is flying two weeks earlier than in 2006. Today I saw at least 15 at Newchurch Common, Cheshire.
