Minera limeworks

The limestone quarries around Minera hold a wealth of old kilns with four banks of draw kilns and a hoffmann kiln, all in a small area. There are seven kilns in this bank although the stonework has been much altered due to the installation of loading bunkers on the top after the kilns became disused.
The tree I was using to assist in climbing onto the top of these kilns, gave way at an awkward moment and in the subsequent fall I split my head open. Ah, the joys of exploring old industries! :-)
For Sale

St Andrew's Mission Church at Wern, Minera has been closed for some time. It is up for sale, but the covenants and restrictions on use are such that a buyer has proved elusive. It is listed Grade II, and it will be a pity if bumbledom by the church and planning authorities means that it is allowed to fall into ruin.
