Happy Fence Friday, All Radcliffe Square, Oxford. From Wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radcliffe_Square "Radcliffe Square is surrounded by historic Oxford University and college buildings. The square is cobbled, laid to grass surrounded by railings in the centre, and is pedestrianised except for access. The square is named after John Radcliffe, a student of the university who became doctor to the King, made a large fortune, and left a significant legacy to the University and his college (University College), which is nearby in the High Street to the south. The centrepiece of the square is the circular and imposing Radcliffe Camera, a library (originally for science) paid for by John Radcliffe's legacy, built 1737–48. This is part of the Bodleian Library, the main building of which is situated immediately to the north of the square. The two are connected by a tunnel and there are many books stored under the square (with space for around 600,000 volumes). These books may be requested by readers. There used to be a small underground railway to transport books between the Radcliffe Camera and the main Bodleian site. To the west is Brasenose College, one of Oxford's older colleges. To the east is All Souls College." A couple of years ago I bought a 10-20mm wide angle lens and I think I only used it once :-) I decided to give it another try :-) It's very difficult to include all of Radcliffe Square with any kind of standard lens so I tried the wide angle lens set at the 10.0 mm point :-) Maybe, view at full screen, please :-)

Explored! Thank you very much :-) SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE 17 AUGUST 2019 TAKE A PHOTO THROUGH A GLASS PANE This was taken from within the University Church in Oxford looking out at the Radcliffe Camera. This is a very large window divided into many panes and I guess each pane is surrounded by lead. I was going to use one pane of glass plus the lead surround but it actually looked like there wasn't a pane of glass at all and that I had put a border around the shot :-) I, therefore, decided to include bits of the surrounding panes and I did then add my own border :-) On closer inspection I can now see the middle pane of glass has distorted little bits of the building :-) I am, however, very puzzled by the surrounding panes where in places there is a lot of distortion. I can't imagine that the middle pane I chose is an almost optically perfect bit of glass :-))) And, for 'Sight and Sound' I have decided upon a 'book' link :-) The Radcliffe Camera is used as a Reading Room by the Bodleian Library. In 1962 Bo Diddley recorded "You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover" :-) Added to Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ Listen here ~ You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover ~ Bo Diddley

There are quite a few 'collars' in my photo :-) Gene Clark and Carla Olson recorded the album "So Rebellious A Lover" back in 1987. I had to find an excuse, any excuse, to use “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted” by Patrick Stamp and Daryl Hall :-) So, I'm sure the guy in the stripey shirt was 'Broken-Hearted' that, clearly, he had left his camera at home :-) I absolutely LOVE the performance by Patrick and Daryl.
