Water Birds Zuerich (H.A.N.W.E.)

09 Aug 2025 16 5 341
Taken when we visited Zuerich in early 1992. We had a Eurrail Pass so could take the boating trip around Lake Zuerich. The sun was just poking through the clouds on this cold February day. I guess we have a goose and some mudhens near the boat dock. Image professionally scanned from print and modified with GIMP. Please take a look on a black background.

Swan Mother (H.A.N.W.E.)

03 Aug 2025 4 2 279
Taken during our 1993 cruise along the Thames River. We hired a boat and went from nearly Oxford down to Hampton Court. It was a lovely spring. The babies had hatched and were riding on the back of the mother swan. These photos were scanned from prints (we apologize for the quality).

We took a long weekend one time in 2007 and flew from Maui to Honolulu. We enjoyed a stay in the "big city", including visits to some photo ops. Took these pictures at the Honolulu Zoo using the Nikon D50. Image processed with GIMP and UFRaw. For more photos, see: swansonphotos.com/oahu_2007.html

Gentoo Penguin in Falklands

10 Mar 2020 12 7 509
Taken at Bluff Cove in the Falklands. The managers there told us to not cross the rope line between the pathway and the rookery. However, the penguins decided to ignore the barrier, and we got a lot of good closeups. Nikon D700

Gentoo Penguins on Beach in Falklands (H.A.N.W.E.)

10 Mar 2020 8 5 516
I was walking on the beach in Bluff Cove and saw a group of penguins arriving from the sea. They arrived, saw me there, and started to walk quickly along the shoreline. I just stood where I was, and took lots of photos. Nikon D700

Barking Owls

Taken at the Featherdale Wildlife Park near Sydney, Australia. The Panasonic GX85 did pretty well in the low lighting at this facility.
