➽ Es war a bisserl wie Urlaub daheim - leckeres türkisches Essen, çay oder/und Raki gratis vom Wirt, türkische Musik und Unterhaltungen, der Verkehrslärm fast wie in Istanbul und ein Poster im Hinterhof mit Blick von der Ortaköy-Moschee über den Bosporus. Jetzt ist alles wieder geschlossen, die Tische zusammen geschoben, die Zukunft ungewiss... Ich drücke den Gastronomen und allen, die dieser neue Lockdown besonders trifft, die Daumen, dass sie auch diesmal durchhalten - und an alle: Bleibts xund und optimistisch! ____________________________ ➽ It was a bit like vacation at home - delicious Turkish food, çay or/and raki for free from the host, Turkish music and conversations, the traffic noise almost like in Istanbul and a poster in the back yard with a view of the Ortaköy Mosque over the Bosphorus. Now everything is closed again, the tables pushed together, the future uncertain ... I keep my fingers crossed for the restaurateurs and everyone who is particularly affected by this new lockdown that they will hold out again - and to everyone: Stay safe and optimistic!

➽ HFF and a great WE to all! ____________________ ➽ Obwohl der heutige Stadtteil Oberhausen von den Alemannen im 8. oder 9. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde, befand sich an dieser Stelle bereits um 15 v. Chr. ein römisches Militärlager. Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung fand im Jahr 1150 statt. Aufgrund seiner Nähe zur Augsburger Innenstadt wurde das Dorf Oberhausen im Mittelalter häufig von Feinden überfallen. Mit den Anfängen der Industrialisierung im 19. Jahrhundert wandelte sich Oberhausen in einen Industriearbeitervorort. Durch die hohen Bau- und Unterhaltskosten der neuen öffentlichen Gebäude und der Kanalisation sah sich der Markt Oberhausen gezwungen seine Selbstständigkeit aufzugeben. Am 1. Januar 1911 wurde Oberhausen in die Stadt Augsburg eingegliedert. Im Vergleich zu den anderen Augsburger Stadtteilen besitzt Oberhausen heute den größten Anteil an Bürgern mit Migrationshintergrund. Bezogen auf die kleinteiligeren Stadtbezirke ist der Anteil am zweithöchsten. Die verbreitete Meinung, Oberhausen besitze weitgehend türkischstämmige Bürger, kann durch die Einwohnerstatistik widerlegt werden. Vielmehr ist dieser Stadtteil multikulturell geprägt. Dort befinden sich viele Imbissbuden mit Heimservice und einfache Kneipen die internationale Küche bieten. ➽ Seen at Martin School (PiP)! The school starts again next week and we're off for a last sunny holiday weekend. So already now many thanks for your visits and comments - HFF and a great sunny WE to all!

➽ The Sunday Challenge (TSC) - The writing's on the wall __________________ ➽ Seit 2013 werden alljährlich anläßlich des Augsburger Hohes Friedensfest Bürger oder Einrichtungen gesucht, die bereit sind, eine Fassade mit einem Graffitimotiv, passend zum jeweiligen Motto des Friedensfests, gestalten zu lassen. Das Thema 2016 war Mut (siehe auch PiPs) . Aus dem Wort Wut hat der nette Bär das Wort Mut gemacht. Das Motiv ist ein Entwurf des Augsburger Graffiti Künstlers BRNZN, der früher mit der illegalen Augsburg-Blume bekannt wurde. Der Schulleiter der Martin Schule im Stadtteil Oberhausen hat sich entschlossen, eine Wand für dieses Motiv zur Verfügung zu stellen. Die Schule ist eine Förderschule für Schüler aus Oberhausen und zwei weiteren Stadtteilen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Sprache und Verhalten. Die meisten Schüler stammen aus Familien mit Flüchtlings- oder Migrationshintergrund. Viele sind traumatisiert und auch manchmal wütend. Gerade sie brauchen viel Mut... __________________ ➽ Since 2013 every year on the occasion of the Augsburger Hohes Friedensfest (High Peace Festival of Augsburg) citizens or institutions were sought which are willing to decorate a facade with a graffiti motif which matches to the respective theme of the Peace Festival. The theme in 2016 was "Mut" (courage) (see also PiPs) . From the word "Wut" (rage) the friendly bear has made the word "Mut" (courage). The motif is a design of the Augsburg Graffiti artist BRNZN, which was formerly known with the illegal Augsburg-Flower . The principal of the Martin School in Oberhausen district has decided to provide a wall for this motif. The school is a special school for pupils from Oberhausen and two other districts. The focus is on language and behavior. Most of the students come from families with refugee or immigrant background. Many are traumatized and sometimes angry. ➽ Das Gaswerk Augsburg wurde 1915 im Augsburger Stadtteil Oberhausen in Betrieb genommen. Seit 2001 ist das gesamte Gaswerk mit dem Gaskessel stillgelegt. Die bis 1915 erbauten Gebäude überstanden den Zweiten Weltkrieg unbeschadet und stehen heute unter Denkmalschutz. Das acht Hektar große Gelände hat zum Teil park- und schlossähnlichen Charakter. Es gilt als Denkmal von europäischem Rang und ist einzigartig in Bayern. Es sind noch fast alle Gebäude erhalten und zwei verschiedene Gasbehälterarten (Teleskop- und Scheibengasbehälter PiPs ) zu sehen. Since 2001 the entire gas plant and also the gas tank was shut down. The buildings survived the WW II unscathed and are now a protected monument. The eight-acre site has park- and castle-like character. It's considered as a monument of European importance and is unique in Bavaria. There are still preserved almost all the buildings and you can see two different types of gas tank (telescopic and disk gas tank PiPs ).
