ipernity: Group: World Photography Day

2021 - THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!

I hope you enjoyed our club's special event. I am still making my way through all the great photographs. Please feel free to continue to add comments and also to add to any of the discussions.

Perhaps you can consider the group's discussions a place to talk about photography in general, or to ask questions you may have about a specific photograph, or to share something related but beyond World Photography Day you think people would like to know about.

Also, feel free to link to our group on any social media you may participate in, or share the link with your family and friends outside of ipernity.

Contributions are now closed for the year. I think everyone who joined the group got a chance to participate. You might want to check out the photos that showed up between August 19th and August 31st - they were all taken on August 19th and deserve our attention as well.

Sometime well before next year's event we will have a discussion about if we want to change the focus and rules.

For now, thank you to all who participated. I hope it was enlightening and enjoyable for all.

And thank you for organising this, Laura. It provoked me to get off my lazy backside and look around (and that is no bad thing in these straitened times; although here in Western Australia there are no restrictions other than staying in the state - and given this state is about the size of India that is no problem!). It has been fascinating to see what others have photographed and has rekindled some of my interest in making pictures which had been waning of late. Many thanks to you and to all who contributed.

Thank you for your efforts in making it possible Laura, it proved to be a very successful event with a varied selection of contributions some created for the day some a glimpse of life on the day, including contributions from members who where unknown to us.

Many thanks to you too, Laura, for organising this event inside ipernity. Its success shows the interest that our community has in this type of event, which takes them out of their routine (me first!) by encouraging them to focus their attention on a single day and a theme that is not usually theirs.

It is my pleasure to have run this event. I do want to give thanks to Sami, www.ipernity.com/home/serola who helped me figure out the logistics of this last year when the idea was first begun. While Sami is busy with other things right now, I couldn't have done this withouth his initial input.

I'm so pleased that members have enjoyed this event. We are a fun crowd! I still haven't made my way through every photo (I should get to yours by the end of next week - if I haven't already), as I want to really take my time and explore the photo and the information so many of you shared. What a privlege to get to know more about everyone, either where one's interest in photography comes from or what types of lens one uses or what part of the world one lives in. It makes me feel even closer to our community members.
