☑ Images In Explore

I just happened to be looking in Explore and found one image in Explore, that until I looked at it, it had no views - mine was the very first view. How did this image make it into Explore? And not only that, it was not a traditional image, but an advertisement for some real estate advisor. How can "spam" make it into Explore and why is this allowed? I'm quite disappointed in this.

As am I, disappointed =(

If you manage to find that, please give link to me via ipernity mail. You can also report such images as SPAM.

But keep in mind that mistakes can happen. How the zero view image got there sounds like a serious bug. And how that even got through our moderation is another mystery onto what I can't answer.

Anyway, thank you for reporting. And as said, if and whenever this happens again, a full detailed report is much appreciated. More details we get, more chance to fix the bugs and procedures.

Some guessing:

I guess that on a quiet day somewhat all few images uploaded during last 24 hours may become a subject of becoming as "Explore candidates". 27 x 18 pages = 486 photos, which is pretty many.

However, we still also have the human made moderation, which should keep such cases at bay.

Further investigation continues...

We don't know the algorithm for explore, which Christophe and Team programmed 7 years ago, in detail. But through observation we found out that images of new users get a high priority surcharge. Even with just a few clicks, they will be placed in the queue for approval for Explore.

This queue is sighted by William. The main focus is to prevent hate, porn and other prohibited topics from appearing in Explore. Such human control can never be 100%. Furthermore, the ima team regularly checks all newly registered accounts to see if they are SPAM. But as a small club we cannot afford a 24-hour control team like the big social media. Therefore it can happen that SPAM is online for up to 48 hours. For these reasons it can happen from time to time that pictures get into Explore that don't belong there.

Since we are not a commercial company but a private association, we depend on the help of everyone to discover such occurrences. Please simply report them to the moderation via ticket. The objected contributions will then be checked and removed if necessary.

In the meantime we have checked the entire "Explore" channel. No image of the species complained of can be found. This means that the spam monitoring mechanism described above worked within 24 hours.

Nevertheless, we ask that complaints of this kind only be made via the procedure provided for this purpose by ticket, please. In the case of tickets, it is guaranteed that they will be presented to the moderator. Here in a discussion forum, the prompt discovery of the complaint is rather coincidental.

When I saw the one in question, it was one of the last couple in Explore and would have been pushed out soon anyway. At least, that's what I think happens. When anybody congratulates me on getting a picture in Explore, I go to see it and it's not there anymore. Well, that's the way it goes!

Nun, zumindest funktioniert der Support. Gestern Abend, als ich hier rein schaute, gab es nur die Frage und ich hatte keinerlei Idee, wie so etwas passieren konnte, nun haben wir quasi schon eine Lösung, ist doch auch was...

The SPAM account referred to on this topic has been deleted now. Thank you all for the contribution.

As ima.team (Bernhard) mentioned, one can also directly report such posts. But I also again mention that we do moderate ipernity. Which is why reporting each new SPAM or otherwise inappropriate new image is not necessary.

This particular case had yet survived for quite long time. The account in question was created already in July 2019. That makes me to believe that such SPAM accounts are first kept dormant in purpose, and SPAM posted only after few months, to avoid our moderation.

We can confirm this suspicion. Therefore we are grateful for any information!
But please do it by ticket, because this is an organized procedure where all cases since 2007 are documented.

With a ticket, all relevant information is summarized in a single file, so to speak. No matter who in the team continues to process a ticket, she/he always has everything completely in view immediately. It is important that we all respect this procedure in order to ensure a proper, fast processing and later traceability.
