Surrealism is an art movement that emerged in Paris in the 1920s and is characterized by the depiction of dreamlike, unreal scenes, often based on the human psyche, dreams, and the unconscious. It strove to transcend the boundaries of reality and create a "super-reality" by breaking with logic and reason and relying on spontaneous, associative techniques.
