What is apparently a common fault develops which results in the camera becoming inoperable. a system message appears on screen "System Error - Focus". Before you pay for any repair, even if out of warranty, complain to Panasonic UK Support, emphasising the camera is not fit for purpose; you will be advised to send it to their preferred Repair Centre, and they will instruct you to advise the repair centre that Panasonic is prepared to offer "Cost Assistance" on its repair. To fix this problem on what is a £410 camera is normally about £110, so worth pursuing with Panasonic. To their credit they do seem to realize there is a system fault with this product.

Mine has now been returned to a repair centre for a further three times with the same fault. The zoom barrel is neither dust nor waterproof, and whilst, when it is functioning, it is an excellent small travel camera, I cannot recommend it to anyone in view of the weakness of the zoom mechanism - the slightest knock will damage it.
