Thanks for this group, Marj! I've made no bones about my mediocre camera and dubious skills to match. My problem with photog advice is that I don't usually understand what's being told to me, as I have no technical knowledge. (I had a tiny bit in the analog days, but it's a different world, now.)

Once in awhile I read reviews and compare specs for cameras I can afford - about $400. But it's SO confusing. I know there's no "right answer," but would still like some suggestions from people I know here!

Current so-called equipment (sorry old camera): Fuji S2950. Basically a step above a point-and-shoot and shaped like a small DSLR. I love the light weight of it and it has a viewfinder - which I absolutely MUST have. www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-FinePix-S2950-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B01KADBD5W I will probably want to stay with auto-focus, etc.

Ideas?

Hi Diane .......I have looked at your link of the Fine Pix it seems to be a nice compact camera & I agree with you about the viewfinder. Even though I like my Phone camera to me it has it limitations one is the viewfinder , when using a monitor on what ever on a sunny day I click blind, sometimes ok & maybe not. Just one advantage is it's light weight & handy !!!

Are you saying that you are looking for a new camera ? ... If so I found it quite hard to chose the right one, ( still wonder if I have )....I think you have to look at what you want from the camera.
in way of what you want to shoot. It is a preference & I think everyone has different thoughts on what is best......One thing I will say is go to a camera shop & handle different ones to get the feel + also pick their brains .....OR Anyone on here what are your thoughts on this ? ......!!!

Hartelijke groeten.........Frans.

Hi Frans
Thank you for that .... All this helps others to know how you come to a decision on buying a Camera.
There is always pros & cons you have to get the right balance.
Anyone else got any input into buying a Camera ?

Hi Diane

French is right in what he says, but i would like to say a camera that has a little more weight to it becomes more stable to hold steady when using the viewfinder. (if it has shake reduction the better)

Just a small comment Diane, so hope this helps your choice of camera!

Kind Regards, Bill.
