It is not a closed ring because it is the path you see in first plan. There are a lot more fairy rings around the cists, but not easy to photograph because of cists density.

A wonderful capture as Keith says a Fairy Ring, they are a pain if you get one in a lawn it kills the grass, apart from changing a lot of soil not much you can do
