It does happen in many summers for a short time and very often reduced to a trickle. It is a very flat plateau beyond but a large area. Restoration work on the tops has involved planting and blocking dykes meaning for many months of the year more water is retained on the plateau that say 20 years ago would have just gushed off the top very rapidly after heavy rain.
