Top shot! I know the term brown hare but is it a different species or sub-species?
Following on from Keith,
I saw 100s the other day, they are having a periodic infestation around the town where my sister lives outside Madrid. The next wave of mixamatosis will reduce the population by 99% along with the bunnies, until the next resistant generation proliferates again.

Brown Hare is the common species European Hare is same. We do also have Mountain Hare but they are only found in some upland areas and they are different species. Yes the along with the rabbits ( but perhaps less visible) the populations vary greatly over the years.
