I do like the colour of a nice conker! Nicely take Colin.

The Horse Chestnut trees here have nearly all been affected by the horse-chestnut leaf-miner which is a moth caterpillar that burrows through the leaves causing them to die off, so the tree produces less food for itself. It doesn't kill them, but it does greatly reduce the amount and quality of conkers it produces.

That's something I have heard mentioned locally but the trees that I was looking at look to have escaped for now.
