Belgium
Arrived on 1 April 2018 (no joke)
so many brothels!
On the last stretch of our drive back to Chastre, Denis and I drove down a highway which for some reason is famous for having loads of brothels. We counted 14 in a space of a few km
so many wind turbines
I have never seen such a concentration of wind turbines anywhere before. I can see them in the distance behind Marie & Denis' garden, and all along the freeway you see them

this bloke on the highway does not sell any of his art, but he loads of interesting stuff outside
vegetable plush toys
The big supermarket chain Delhaize in Belgium has a very clever marketing ploy. You collect points and can get all sorts of fruit and vegetable plush toys for kids. They also have books with stories and stickers about "Madame Broccoli" and others. Marie told me the amount of vegetables (also fruit) that kids here ate went up substantially with this.
back at Roy

I brought these Swedish Easter decoration feathers with me to Belgium, and we put them on some branches in the garden. At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.
Easter egg hunt
The weather was crap on the Easter weekend, and the kids are too young to know the difference, so they delayed the Easter egg hunt for the weekend after. Left to right: Odette (Denis' mother), Jean, Marie, Aude, Corinne (Denis' sister) and Luc (Denis' dad). At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.

The kids both needed some hints finding their eggs, but they enjoyed it a lot. At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.

3L bottle of beer!

Yes, we drank it all, Luc, Denis and me. Not the best of Belgian beers, but very palatable all the same. At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.
"Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St-Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period."

I'm sure it's still a pain to have in the garden, but at least it is pretty! At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.
tarte au riz
Odette is a pastrychef's daughter so she does not bake! But she bought the famous Belgian tarte au riz (a sweet rice flan) and it was delicious. Also an apricot flan - which I always love. At Luc and Odette's house in Roy, in the Ardennes.
