New Zealand - South Island
Visiting New Zealand had been on our travel "Bucket List" for years. Finally we made it to the South Island, in 2015. In no time, we found ourselves beginning to plan our next trip.
Our initial reaction on arrival at our hotel in central Christchurch was sheer amazement at the extent of the devastation left by the earthquakes of late 2010 and early 2011. Very few central city buildings surviv… (read more)

It's an Ent!
For those not across the title, in Tolkein's book "Lord of the Rings", Ents are "ancient tree people". I couldn't resist adding a sound track as accompaniment.
Explored.
Arriving
Aircraft (in note) approaching Queenstown, NZ Sth Island. The flight path between the ranges must give an exciting arrival. I'd suggest viewing large.
Explored.
Across the lake: night
Across Lake Wakatipu at Queenstown. Repays viewing large.
Explored.

Across the lake: day
Across Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, NZ, from the same viewpoint at our overnight unit as my previous image "night". Which leads me to the obvious musical link and who better for the "day" image than 'Lady Day'? HFF everyone.
On the road again
Early morning and on the road from Te Anau to the west coast. Worth viewing large.
This is the song that seems to fit. *update* Finally managed to get the position mapping to work.
Explored.
9 - 10
Awaiting the boat. HFF.

And when it rains...
Milford Sound on a rainy day - and suddenly, waterfalls began to cascade down vertical rock faces in all directions. Best viewed large.
Along the Sound
Looking back into Milford Sound, on a wet and windy day with the waterfalls very active.
The horizontal waterfall
Who said waterfalls always point downward? :-) View large, also the note for context.
